Happy 2012! I’m sure that the recent 50 and 60 degree weather has made everyone long for the spring and summer sailing season. We’ve got some great cruises planned for the 2012 season. Mark your calendars, the Early Bird Cruise will start off the sailing season on April 21 & 22, hosted by our John Bacon Wright Memorial Cruising Award winners- the Meinhold’s.  Next up, the Follow the Wind Cruise hosted by Brian Walter, who is sailing all the way up from Florida to follow the wind on the Chesapeake Bay right after our Spring Rendezvous. In May we have the traditional Maintenance Weekend at the Lehman’s on May 19 & 20, as well as the Memorial Day Cruise the following weekend. On the schedule in June is the Children’s Cruise hosted by the Morris Family. The annual Summer Cruise includes a stop in Annapolis for a Historic Walking Tour of the city led by Susan and Sandy Dapkunas. Other plans this season include a Weekend Rest and Relaxation overnight to Eagles Nest in August with the Palmer’s, the Labor Day Cruise, the annual O's Game Cruise with the Lehman's and the Fall Cruise in the Northern Bay with the Foote’s. We’ll finish off the season with the Navy Game & Cruise hosted by Harry Gamber on November 3rd and the Die Hard Cruise hosted by the Leigh’s on November 10 & 11. We’ve got a pretty good schedule of cruises this year, but if anyone has another idea please contact me and we will definitely keep it in mind for the 2013 season. Don’t forget to attend the Cruising Seminar at the Broadneck Library on Saturday, February 11th. Jim Davis will get us started with Glen Housley as our guest speaker. The subject will be cruising sails and related equipment. We will be finalizing the cruising schedule at the seminar as well as looking for a few good volunteers. The schedule is still in planning, so please check back here or the Mainsheet for the final schedule next month.

I look forward to serving as your Cruising Commodore for the 2012 year!
